Cookie policy

What the anymate website stores in your browser, and why. In short: no cookies of our own, six small entries that never leave your browser, and cookie-free Cloudflare Web Analytics only if you choose “Accept all”.

01Cookies

The website sets no cookies of its own. The analytics we use with your consent (see below) are cookie-free, and there are no advertising or social media tools and no embedded content from other websites.

Our hosting provider Cloudflare may set one of the following strictly necessary security cookies, but only while the Cloudflare security feature named is active for anymate.dev:

NameSet byPurposeDuration
__cf_bm Cloudflare, only if its bot protection (Bot Fight Mode or Bot Management) is enabled Helps Cloudflare tell people from automated bots. It holds information for Cloudflare’s bot score, encrypted so that only Cloudflare can read it; it is separate for each website and is not used to follow you across websites. 30 minutes after your last activity
cf_clearance Cloudflare, only after you have solved a Cloudflare security check (challenge page) Records that you passed the check, so you are not asked again. 30 minutes by default

These cookies protect the website against attacks and abuse, so setting them does not need your consent (§ 25 (2) no. 2 TDDDG); the legal basis for the processing is our legitimate interest in a secure website (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). More about them: Cloudflare cookies.

02Analytics (only with your consent)

If you choose “Accept all”, we use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits and measure how fast the pages load. Your browser then loads a small script (beacon.min.js) from static.cloudflareinsights.com, which sends measurements of each page you view, such as its address, the referring page, load times and your browser, operating system and device type, to cloudflareinsights.com. The script sets no cookies, stores nothing in your browser and does not recognise you across visits or websites. Details are in the privacy policy.

Because the script reads information from your browser, we only load it with your consent (§ 25 (1) TDDDG, Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR). What your choice in the cookie notice does:

  • Accept all: Cloudflare Web Analytics starts straight away and is loaded on every page of the website you open afterwards. Your choice is saved as “all”.
  • Essential only: no analytics script is loaded. Only the strictly necessary entries listed below are stored, with your choice saved as “essential”.
  • No choice yet: nothing is loaded.

You can change your choice at any time under “Cookie settings” at the bottom of the home page. If you switch from “Accept all” to “Essential only”, a script already running keeps measuring the page you are on until you leave it; from the next page on, it is no longer loaded.

03What is stored in your browser

Instead of cookies, the website keeps these entries in your browser’s local storage (kept until you delete it) and session storage (deleted when you close the tab or window). They are not sent to us or to anyone else.

NameStoragePurposeDuration
anymate-cookie-consent Local storage Remembers your choice in the cookie notice (“all” or “essential”), so the notice is not shown again and analytics are loaded only if you chose “all”. Until you delete it
anymate-demo-quality Local storage Remembers the video quality you picked in the 2D workflow demo player. Only set if you change it. Until you delete it
mountain-pass-device-scores Local storage Written by the game on the home page (The Mountain Pass) once you press Play, not before: how fast your device drew a short test scene, per graphics card and screen (named by the graphics card’s name and the screen size), and whether the game recently crashed at a quality level, so it picks a quality level your device can hold. Until you delete it (the game drops scores older than 30 days)
mountain-pass-running Local storage A marker the game keeps while it runs on screen after you have pressed Play, so that if the browser or tab crashes, the next visit notices and starts it at a lower quality level. Removed when the game stops, is hidden or you leave the page
anymate-intro-played Session storage Notes that the opening animation has played (or that you came back from another page of the site), so it does not play again during your visit. Until you close the tab
anymate-anyseg-ghost Session storage Notes that the AnySeg demo has shown its hint animation, so it is shown only once per visit. Until you close the tab

All six are strictly necessary for functions you use on the website, so storing them does not need your consent (§ 25 (2) no. 2 of the German Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act, TDDDG). The video player the demo uses (Plyr) is set up not to store anything.

04How to change or delete them

You can delete these entries at any time by clearing the site data for anymate.dev in your browser’s settings; the website keeps working, it just asks again, plays the intro again, or the game measures your device again. To show the cookie notice again and change your choice, use “Cookie settings” at the bottom of the home page.
